The Great Taste of the Grove- Sat & Sun
Great Taste Of The Grove Offers Culinary Sensations

Those who savor good flavor won't want to miss one of South Florida's most popular combos of culinary excellence and free live entertainment. Plans have simmered for weeks at The Great Taste of the Grove, and recipes come to life Saturday, January 12 and Sunday, January 13 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This signature winter event on the shores of Biscayne Bay in Coconut Grove will feature chefs from popular local restaurants and their favorite dishes ranging from casual to fine dining.

The Great Taste of the Grove for 2008 offers taste samplings from Bizcaya, Café Brasserie, Mr. Moe's, Cefalo, Al Fresco, Sandbar, Q-Doba, GNU, Cocowalk, Panorama, Mayfair Hotel and Spa, Nikki Beach, Nespresso, Monty's, The New You Diet Catering, Hi-Vong Catering and Chart House. Each restaurant participating in this signature event will feature a-la-carte tastings ranging from $1 to $8.

Admission is free and visitors can treat their palates to a variety of scrumptious dishes including Guava BBQ Ribs, Rissotto, Seared Peppered Ahi Tuna and Tiramisu. At this year's festival, Havana Cola will be launching its new soda and Presidente Beer will feature commemorative cups for this 18th edition of The Great Taste of the Grove.

A mix of musicians will serve up hot licks both days. The Arts and Minds Jazz Ensemble, Randy Singer & Bernsen, Arte Vivo and Pocket Change will set the groove in the Grove with performances on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m.

A children's activity area will provide youngsters with plenty to do. They can have their faces painted, climb a rock wall, jump in the bounce house and enjoy a selection of sweets.

"We are proud to once again bring The Great Taste of the Grove back to the neighborhood," said Gary Ciuca, event chair. "It is especially exciting to expand the festival to two days. This will give visitors the time to enjoy every aspect of the event."

The 18th edition of Great Taste of the Grove once again will overlook Biscayne Bay in Peacock Park at 2820 McFarlane Road in Coconut Grove. Admission is free. For more information, please call the Chamber office at (305) 444-7270 or visit http://www.coconutgrove.com.

This year's Great Taste of the Gove is sponsored by Presidente Light, Havana Beverages, Bacardi, WDNA Serious Jazz, Fast Signs, Starbucks, Nestle Waterthe Coconut Grove Business Improvement Committee, Barefoot Wine, Coconut Grove Neighborhood Enhancement Team and Coconut Grove Bank.

About Starting Out In The Evening IN AREA THEATRES JANUARY 25 All that remains for Leonard Schiller (Frank Langella) is to finish the novel he has been laboring on for almost ten years. With his four earlier books out of print, he has learned to starve himself of the desire for the success he was once so close to, though beneath this practice lives a pull for his work to be rediscovered. His solitary writer's life is shaken by the arrival of Heather (Lauren Ambrose), an ambitious graduate student who persuades him that she can use her thesis to spur a rediscovery of his work. But as her inquiry proceeds, Heather displays a profound personal interest in Leonard, which unsettles him and stirs up his long-dormant need for intimacy. Meanwhile, Leonards daughter Ariel (Lili Taylor) reconnects with her ex-boyfriend Casey (Adrian Lester), a man Leonard firmly disapproves of. Leonards encounters with Heather lead him down an unfamiliar path that threatens his writing, his health, and his relationship to his daughter. But in living out in the open, in the evening of his life Schiller puts into practice the core theme of his novels -- life is not designed for our comfort but for our struggle, for in struggle there is growth.
