The beach went black for 15 seconds, and then the power came back and we partied til Midnight. Great moments will be had, YOU just need to be there for it.

To date the Garlic Fest has distributed over $187,000 and donated 2-1/2 tons of food to nonprofits.

In Viking's Garlic Chef Stadium chefs from Miami to West Palm Beach Compete in our 7th Annual Garlic Chef Competition on Feb. 9th & 10th.
New this year:..
Each year the Garlic Fest reaches out to the local community to involve schools and local non-profit organizations in the event. This year the Milagro Center children are involved in the production an "Opening Celebration" along with local song writers, and entertainers to perform popular songs about the ecology, peace, love, social awareness, as well as original music.
Entertainment Director for Delray Beach Arts, Jerry Leeman, accepted a position to work with the students and faculty at the Milagro Center to develop the opening act. Jerry will begin teaching a class at the Center called "The Appreciation of the impact music has on society, culture, and in our own lives". The students will first gain insight to how music impacts their own lives. The students will then perform as part of the opening act of the "9th Annual Delray Beach Garlic Fest".
The Milagro Center Kids will perform the legendary songs "Woodstock" and "Put a little love in your Heart", with their opening celebration incorporating music, dance, drumming and visual art. The idea behind The Big Love Medicine Show is to first showcase The Milagro Center, an award-winning cultural Mecca of Delray Beach and secondly to feature local songwriters and musicians that have provided thousands of fans with heart felt music through the years. Often these musical soldiers go unnoticed in the corner of bars and night clubs all over south Florida as they belt out their tunes four hours a night, five or six days a week, year round! Their poetry is often overlooked and under heard! This is your chance to hear them.
The Delray Beach Garlic Fest continues to offer garlic fans the opportunity to celebrate the most widely used and loved food in the world…GARLIC. Come and join us for a stinking good time!

The Delray Beach Garlic Fest continues its tradition of producing the greatest food, music and arts and crafts festival in Downtown Delray Beach. This year, the 3-day event will be held Friday through Sunday, February 8, 9 & 10, 2008. Festival hours are Friday: 5PM-10PM, Saturday: 11AM-10PM, Sunday: 11AM-7PM.
This unique event crosses all cultural boundaries and ages, providing something for everyone featuring National Act Entertainment, Garlic Chef Stadium (Now featured on Food Network's "Unwrapped"), garlic-inspired gourmet food, over 150 unique vendors, children's activities and rides, cooking competitions and demonstrations and Garlic University. The Garlic Fest entertains and educates while contributing back to the community. In 2007, $51,000 was raised for volunteers groups and Project Thanksgiving. To date the Garlic Fest has distributed over $187,000 and donated 2-1/2 tons of food to nonprofits.
Our covered/tented Main Stage area this year features National Act Entertainment including Donna the Buffalo, Blues Traveler, Wish You Were Here…a Tribute to Pink Floyd and Caribbean Chillers…a Tribute to Jimmy Buffet in addition to many local acts.

Delray Beach International Tennis Championships' Makes a Racquet with Local Musicians

Delray Beach, FL (January 28, 2008) - The world's top ranked male tennis players will kick-off the 2008 ATP North American season February 9 - 17 at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships (ITC). In addition to seeing some of the best tennis players in the world, the tournament will expand its offerings to include a new concert series that is "Making a Racquet" all over South Florida and the tennis world!

The Delray Beach ITC Becks' Making A Racquet is a new local music search and interactive concert series that kicked off on January 24 in Delray Beach. Each night of the week local musicians played at area venues while a panel of music hipsters and the crowds in attendance decided which local bands will headline the Beck's Main Stage during the Delray Beach ITC tournament February 11 through 17. Fans are able to enjoy a different genre of music each night of the Tennis Championships from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm. In addition to great tennis, fans can also enjoy classical and jazz music performances by local youth artists on the Main Stage during the day sessions 12 noon to 3:30 pm.
"We were looking for opportunities to broaden the tournaments reach to more than just tennis fans. We created the Making a Racquet series as a way to offer local musicians an international platform in which to perform and to afford the tournament the opportunity to market to an entirely new audience," said John Butler, Executive Director.
This first time series saw 16 bands and performers battle it out for the coveted final four who will all play in the tournament. Additionally, a commemorative CD will be made composed of two original songs by each of the four winning bands and will be sold at the tournament and at downtown Delray Beach shops with proceeds going to local charities. (See below for a complete schedule of bands.)
"The idea behind expanding the tournament to include a local musician search is a stroke of genius," said Chris O'Neill, Vice President of Marketing for the ATP. "It ties in the wonderful spirit and rhythm of original music to the hard hitting, excitement of world class tennis. No other ATP tournament is doing this kind of event - the Delray Beach ITC is truly setting the bar in strategic marketing and great audience experiences."
This year's ITC, held February 9 - 17 at the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center, is celebrating its tenth year in Delray Beach with a rich field that includes James Blake, Tommy Haas and the Bryan Brothers. It will attract over 50,000 attendees, be seen on TV on over 150 countries and is one of only 15 ATP Tour events in North America. For a complete lineup of players or to purchase tickets call 561-330-6000. Where: Mizner Park Amphitheater, Boca Raton
Saturday, February 16, 2008
Time: 2:00 PM
In a first of its kind FREE event, an all-star line up of musical performers are scheduled to participate in the Kids Day Matinee at the Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca Raton on Saturday, February 16 at 2 pm. The afternoon will feature a diverse array of musical genres from Hip Hop to Dixie Land, Broadway to Americana. And in addition to the live performances, free ice cream will be available for all the children.

This exciting extravaganza is the creation of Marshall Turkin and Martin Stein, who wanted the opportunity to introduce the young people of our community to a variety of musical styles. We wanted to provide a fun-filled day and a free venue, so hundreds of children and their parents can experience the wonders of music, said Turkin. The show will be both entertaining and educational, as we have developed a program that will take the children on a musical journey, from their current favorites to songs they may have never heard before.

Mr. Turkin is bringing his artistic expertise to the afternoon with the Marshall Turkin Classic Jazz Dixieland Ensemble. As the former Director of both the Pittsburgh and Detroit Symphony Orchestras and the founder of the Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia, Turkin is orchestrating the diverse array of young talent who will be performing, in addition to performing himself with his renowned Jazz Ensemble. Also performing with the Jazz Dixieland Ensemble is bassist, John Lamb, who was a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra during the 60's & 70's.

The program will include performances by the Hip Hop Kidz, the New Young Patriots, Showtime Boca, Ariana Grande, and will conclude with a concert by Marshall Turkin's Classic Dixieland Jazz Ensemble.

Edith and Martin Stein, two of the area's best known philanthropists, are generously underwriting the free concert and the ice cream!
