To “kick-off” the upcoming Dana-Farber Discovery Ball season, Neiman Marcus, Palm Beach hosted and underwrote a fabulous evening for major benefactors and sponsors on the evening of January 3. Dame Celia Lipton Farris generously supported the evening and served as honorary chairwoman. Dana-Farber Trustee, Michele Kessler and Tom Quick served as chairpersons for this beautiful evening.

Neiman Marcus Vice President and Palm Beach Store Director, Beth Pine along with Mrs. Kessler, Mr. Quick and Discovery Ball chairwoman, Phyllis Krock and honorary chairmen Ellen and Bob Jaffe joined the world-renowned fashion designer, Oscar de la Renta in greeting guests. The evening commenced with a cocktail reception and was followed by a spectacular runway presentation of Mr. de la Renta’s heralded spring 2007 collection. Following the runway presentation guests were invited to enjoy a gourmet buffet supper while having the opportunity to meet Mr. de la Renta and visit with Dana-Farber President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Edward Benz, Jr. and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Lawrence Shulman as well.

Among those on hand for the kick-off evening at Neiman Marcus were Roberta and Paul Kozloff, Nancy and Don Carter, Vicki and Arthur Loring, Emily DiMaggio, Sandy Krakoff, Jean Pearlstein and Craig Miller, Evelyn and Leonard Lauder, Ann Rosenberg, Laura and Lee Munder, Tiffany Spadafora and George Cloutier and Abe and Lin Gosman.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund’s 16th Annual Discovery Ball will be held Saturday, February 17, at The Breakers. This glamorous black-tie evening brings together civic, business, and philanthropic leaders with physicians and research scientists to support the Institute’s work. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is consistently ranked among the best cancer treatment center in the nation, and has earned the distinction of being the best cancer center in New England by U.S. News and World Report.
