Young Friends and Families Weird Science Halloween Bash A Spooktacular Smash

On October 27, 2006 The Young Friends and Families of The South Florida Science Museum mixed and mingled among the guests at their first ‘Weird Science Halloween Bash’. Fun was had by all at the Science Museum proving that Halloween isn’t just for kids. Chairs of this spooktacular Weird Science Halloween Bash were Rosanne Duane & Kathleen Millier.

Following cocktails and hors’d’ouerves guests were treated to a hysterical costume contest. Winners of the Contest included: Best Original Theme winners Jim Philpott & Allison LaBossiere as NaCL (salt), Most Original Costume Dave Scheffler (The Scream), Best Couple costume (Antony & Cleopatra), Best Costume Molly Shannon, Sexiest Costume Sarah Hannah (Farrah Fawcett) and Andy Adler (Pimp Daddy, and Best Costume Taken From Your Closet winner Michael (nerd). After the winners were announced guests were invited to visit the museum’s current traveling exhibit, The World We Create, which will be leaving next month to make room for the museum’s largest exhibit to date, Robotics.

The Young Friends and Families of the South Florida Science Museum is a fast-expanding group that enjoys a year-round calendar of events and special program previews, exhibits and cocktail receptions to support the mission of the South Florida Science Museum: to excite curiosity and to further the understanding and appreciation of science and technology among children and families in Palm Beach County and beyond.

Guests included: Kathryn C. Vecellio, Hollie and Brett Elhilow, Angela Culveyhouse, Julie Rudolph, Kathleen Millier, Rosanne Duane, Carla Canedo, Sarah Alsofrom, Alyson Miller, Virginia Oatley, Mike Bornstein, Dave Scheffler, Debra Duran, Jim Philpott, Allison LaBossiere, Diana and Robert Craven.

The South Florida Science Museum is in the middle of a 54 million dollar capital campaign to build a state-of the art science center, aptly named “The Discovery Campaign”. This unique and comprehensive center will be a symbol of the community’s increasing educational opportunities in the sciences, particularly to support the growing need for a strong biosciences workforce in the region. The Elsie and Marvin Dekelboum Science Center will be housed in an amazing three-story structure on 11-acres of land at the west in Lake Lytal Park, between Southern Boulevard and Gun Club Roads, off Kirk Road.

The South Florida Science Museum is located at 4801 Dreher Trail North, West Palm Beach in the north end of Dreher Park. Admission is $9 adults, $7.50 seniors and $6 children. For more information call 561-832-1988 or visit www.sfsm.org.
